Our Suitcase and Trailer Travel system for your Brompton

New Suitcase for Brompton

Perfect for airline travel.  This case will hold your Brompton and our new trailer used for pulling the case behind your bike.  The suitcase checks in at airports as regular luggage.  No questions asked as it is not oversized.  Suitcase has sturdy wheels and a convenient pull out handle for maneuvering around easily.  The suitcase is quality made by Travel-Pro Luggage Co.  This great compact travel solution is easy to set up and use.  Most customers buy only the suitcase for travels.

The Brompton Travel System

When you arrive at your destination, remove your Brompton and place your personal luggage inside the empty suitcase and place the case on the trailer.  Attach the trailer to your Brompton and then ride off with your bags and belongings in the Brompton case.  We also sell two smaller sized Travel-Pro cases.  Either one will fit into the larger case when the Brompton is removed.  These smaller cases may be combined to complete our travel system.  Now you can take your bike with you so easily and start riding  when you get there!

  • C.M. Wasson Co. is an official Travel-Pro Luggage dealer and we offer you an unbeatable price for all your Brompton luggage needs.

Trailer Hitch:

This Travel Hitch is the secret to success of our travel system.  It is simple but does the job very well.  The "hitch" includes a universal joint which allows the trailer to turn and track as you ride.  Our Trailer Hitch fits easily to the Brompton and may be left permanently attached to the folded trailer as illustrated in the trailer photos.

Bike and Trailer in Suitcase:

Here you see the Brompton packed into the suitcase with the trailer. It is a tight fit but the case is easily zipped closed. Note that the seat and folding joint T-bolts must be removed to pack the bike.  Extra items may also be stored in pockets at front and back of the suitcase. While in the suitcase the bike is given ample protection even from most aggressive luggage handlers.

Trailer Towing:

Towing is easy.  The suitcase is strapped to the trailer with two nylon straps. Next drop the hitch over the seat post and replace seat on post. With suitcase in tow the Brompton ride remains stable.  After Chip's ride as  shown here he noted "You hardly know it's there."

Unpacking the Brompton From Suitcase:

Remove trailer from inside lid portion of suitcase.   Next lift out Brompton, and assemble the bike as normally.  Strap suitcase to trailer and the install trailer hitch over seat post.   A useful tip! To unfold back wheel with trailer attached, turn Brompton at right angle to trailer and lean the bike over near to ground.  Then grab rear triangle and move it into unfolded position and raise bike to riding position.

It's a Great set-up! It took a while to come up with this good working solution. Travels with prototypes across America and Europe helped to formulate our product. Our latest version is very satisfying and is a great step forward from our early efforts toward the Brompton Travel concept.

As you see below Marcella is quite pleased with the new travel system!
