We had an outing to the Stanford University Museum for a research look at Leland Stanford Junior' s Singer Odrinary, the formal name for high wheelers or Penny Farthings. I rode my 1886 Columbia Expert (radially spoked front wheel like a Brompton). On left is Jim Langley, former technical editor and historian for "Bicycling" Magazine, and in the
center is Peter Nurkse who proudly rode his brompton along side me on the way to the Museum. The Brompton drew
as much attention as the hi-wheelers. On the way to museum Channell did a clasic header over the handle bars onto the pavement. Ok but sore useless arms for a few days!
