Here is shown the Saddle Adaptor Pin and the quick release fitting that may be used with it.  This part allows the seat to be moved forward or backward to suit a riders needs.  The quick release makes easy and quick removal of the seat possible - a useful feature when wanting to make the bike more compact for storage in small spaces.

The Saddle Adapter Pin is useful for moving the seat a bit forward or backward to fine tune a rider's position on the Brompton.  Use of the Pin also allows rider to gain slightly more height than the Standard Seat Pillar provides.

PLEASE NOTE:The Brompton company recommends use of the Saddle Adapter Pin facing forward as in this position less bending force is exerted on the seat pillar while riding the bike.  However, we have found that for those who want more reach to the handle bars, use of the Saddle Adapter Pin facing backward also works well even for very heavy riders of up to 300 pounds if adjustments are made by using the stronger seat post options and by reinforcing a portion of the seat pillar with a close fitting insert.

One photo here shows the Saddle Adapter Pin facing backward when used with a typical rail type racing saddle. The second photo shows the Pin used facing forward with a quick release fitting installed.  The Quick Release Fitting allows for fast removal of the seat without use of tools.  This is especially useful when using the suitcase for the Brompton for such as airline or bus travel as the seat must be removed each time to pack the bike in the suitcase.
